What the Wenches Are Reading

There's a whole lot of Bloodlines and Vampire Academy, and Ball & Chain by Abigail Roux goin on this week! More than half of the Wenches are reading one of these books this week, while the others are working their way through A Song of Ice and Fire, Outlander, Night Huntress, and the Jaz Parks series. I love it when some of us get on the same page--or at least the same book!

Click through to see which Wench is reading what. And be sure to share what you're reading this week, in the comments below!

Amanda:  I'm still working on ASOIAF by GRRM. I haven't had much time to read, but I've got a new plan for reading books 4 & 5. Stay tuned for details and how it's going next week!

Angela: Lots of reading done this week. Too many late nights. Read Ball & Chain (Cut & Run #8). It was just an okay read for me. I'm ready for the series to be done to be honest. Luckily there is only one more book to go and then it wraps up. It's time. I then moved onto one of our Goodreads group Book of the Month - Written in Red (Others #1) by Anne Bishop. Wow, I needed something amazing after Ball & Chain. What a fantastic book to read. Gripping, enthralling, fantastic world building, that I've been captivated from start to finish. So much so, I've already delved into Book 2 Murder of Crows and it's just as gripping.

Anne: I'm still living in the Cut & Run world. I'm not sure when I'll be leaving it....

Barb: I'm still kind of wrecked from the last Bloodlines book, The Fiery Heart. I started over again with Bloodlines, and just a few chapters in I see WOW things, but I haven't gotten very far. While not reading this week I wrote a review of the Bloodlines series, gave myself a spa pedicure, learned how to French braid my own hair, and watched the first season of The Borgias. I'm going to keep working on rereading Bloodlines, but I haven't been this wrecked by a book in some time. I'm quite enjoying the feeling.

Beta: Sadly I haven't had any time to read this whole week due to RL (real life).

Care: This week was spend rereading - and re-rereading - Ball & Chain.  I'm ridiculously in love with this book, and am now highlighting the bejeebers out of it.  I know I need to leave C&R soon and move onto something else, but I have no idea when I'm going to be able to do that.  I'm running around in meetings IRL all the dang time, so having Ty & Zane in my back pocket (okay, my nook is too big for my pocket, but you know what I mean!) is a huge help while I'm stuck in waiting rooms.

Donna: I just finished reading The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines #4) by Richelle Mead. It ended on a cliffhanger, which I wasn't expecting. This is one of the downsides to ebooks. If I'd been reading an actual book, I would have noticed there weren't enough pages left to resolve Sydney's problem. The good news is the next installment, Silver Shadows, will be published in July.

Kathi: This week I finished rereading The Fiery Cross, and I know many Outlander fans never thought they’d hear this, but I hated to see it end. I loved being fully immersed in the daily lives of the characters, watching their relationships mature, sharing so many exquisitely crafted small moments and their most intimate thoughts. The first time I read this book, I was frustrated with the slow pace, but this time I savored the chance to linger and smell the roses…and all manner of far less pleasant odors, in painstakingly sharp detail…which made me feel like I was experiencing the lives of my favorite characters right along with them. Diana Gabaldon excels at capturing the richly diverse sensory experiences of living and loving on Frasers Ridge.

Merit: Thanks to Head Wench Barb I started Richelle Mead’s Bloodlines series. These books were “sleeping” on my kindle for more than two years, from the time I finished reading the wonderful Vampire Academy series. I confess I completely forgot about the books. I read Bloodlines and The Golden Lily, currently reading book 3, The Indigo Spell. It took me almost half of the first book to fall in love with the story and with Sydney.  Adrian, on the other hand, I already loved in the VA books and was happy to see he got his own story. It is such a delightful read.

Natalie: OMG I've been a little MIA from the blog!  Too many real life things pulled me in many directions the last few weeks.  I'd like to blame work but this was family.  May my great-grandma rest in peace with my grandfather now; 102 years was a good run.  I did manage in that time to read about immortals in the last two weeks as I've come to the last book in my Night Huntress and Night Huntress World re-read.  I got through all of Vlad's books and Now I'm 50% done with Up From The Grave.  I know I'm late in reading it but I can honestly say that I wish I could give it a glowing review but it's feeling a little less than what I would expect from a Cat and Bones book.  I will however finish it and I will wish Cat and Bones the best when it comes to an end. Happy Reading all.

Shau: I've been re-reading the Jaz Parks Series by Jennifer Rardin. I love Jaz and her crazy sense of humor and her badassery!! All of you who haven't read these, get down on it...YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!

Zee: I haven't been reading much lately, and have been out with friends whenever I can be, but I really wanted to start the Vampire Academy series since Barb recommended it. I read the first one, and while I did not like Rose (and I ain't buying the romance) I love Lissa and Christian and thought the mythology (which kinda has elements of the Carpathian novels...which kinda sucked) was interesting. So I will keep reading them. I started Frostbite last night but barely got in a couple of chapters before I fell asleep.
